The European Commission has published a number calls for proposals under all four specific programmes of the Seventh Framework Programme namely Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities.

This service offers a step-by-step approach to help understand all activities as well as participation in European funding opportunities, for which 17.5 billion euro has been earmarked.

The objectives of IST (the Information Society Technologies) Priorityin FP6 are to ensure European leadership in generic and applied technologies at the heart of the knowledge economy. It aims to increase innova tion and competitiveness in European businesses and industry and to contribute to greater benefits for all European citizens.

The main goal of the project is to advance the science of cognitive systems through a multi-disciplinary investigation of requirements, design options and trade-offs for human-like, autonomous, integrated, physical (eg., robot) systems, including requirements for architectures, for forms of representation, for perceptual mechanisms, for learning, planning, reasoning and motivation, for action and communication.

The principal goal of the euCognition network is to leverage added-value from existing work through interaction and to use this to encourage further contributions from new participants. A key objective of the network is to foster interaction between all the many different scientific sectors involved in this multi-disciplinary area and to help create truly inter-disciplinary perspectives.
